NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme

Last updated: 21 January 2015

Applications are now closed for the Graduate Management Training Scheme 2015 Intake

Always cutting edge, the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme will continue to deliver the managers and leaders who can lead transformation while maintaining the delicate balance of equitable access and affordability. So, we're delivering a comprehensive and innovative programme which consists of challenging work placements, foundation learning, specialism competencies, multi-disciplinary action-learning sets, experiential learning, a mentoring relationship and a talent management performance monitoring system — all aimed at developing new managers with the skills and confidence to become future leaders. And just as the NHS continues to evolve, innovate and change to stay abreast of changing health needs, so too does our Graduate Scheme. The Graduate Scheme consists of four specialisms: general management, finance management, HR management, and Informatics management.

The outstanding results achieved by the NHS graduates highlight the Graduate Scheme's high-quality learning, and recognises their ability and commitment. The Graduate Scheme is open to both current NHS staff and those considering joining us. Whatever your background, you must share our commitment to creating a world-class healthcare service.

Scott Massey started the scheme in September 2013 and says, "The finance grad scheme in the East of England has been a terrific experience.  Nine months into the scheme and I’ve just started with a second placement in the region.  The first was with the Peterborough City Hospital management accounts team and my current placement is with the finance team at Peterborough and Borderline Local Commissioning Group.  Having experience of working in both provider and commissioning organisations has been interesting and insightful.  Many thanks to Health Education East of England who have helped in arranging placements and also providing support during the experience.  Scott Massey, Management Accountant, Peterborough and Borderline Local Commissioning Group and NHS Finance Management Trainee.
